The Cincinnati Choral Society will perform Michael John Trotta’s 30min work, “Light Shines in the Darkness”, at Armstrong Chapel on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 3pm. The concert is presented free of charge and ample parking is available at this performance venue in Indian Hill. The chorus will be accompanied by organ and the Hawthorne String Quartet, which will also perform Mozart’s Divertimento No. 1 in D major, K. 136 (K. 125a), “Salzburg Symphony No. 1” (1772). The piece was chosen for the contemplative nature of its text, sensitively set to music. “Light Shines in the Darkness” draws on texts that examine the many facets of death, the pain of transitions, and the hope and joy of a better time and place. The image of light shining in the darkness is appropriate for the sentiment of CCS, returning to performing after a two year period of dormancy. Covid has been challenging for everyone, and spring reminds us of the beauty of life being reborn all around us.

Covid-19 Update
The CCS Board has had to make the painful decision to hold no rehearsals nor performances
until fall 2021 at the earliest.
We know that choral singing is one of the last “old normals” that will be reinstated, and with vaccines for Covid now available to everyone in the US over 16, we are optimistic we could hold a concert in Fall 2021. We are planning toward this end.
Thank you!
THANK YOU to everyone who attended and participated in our November performance of Carmina Burana with the Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony, Indian Hill High School Premieres, Pones, Inc, and three amazing soloists: Teresa Perrotta, Soprano, Tyler Johnson, Tenor, and Schyler Vargas, Baritone.
A BIG THANK YOU to our sponsors, Louise Dieterle Nippert Musical Arts Fund of the Greenacres Foundation, and the Ohio Arts Council.
And finally, a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to the individual patrons without whom this concert would not have been possible.
We are already planning our spring 2020 concert, details will be posted here and on our Facebook page in early 2020.
